Gum disease is an inflammation of the gum line that can progress to affect the bone that surrounds and supports your teeth.
Swelling and bleeding gums are caused by the accumulation of plaque and tartar around the teeth. Over a period of time it may cause severe destruction of gum tissue and underlying supporting bone, resulting in bone loss and loosening of teeth.
Gum Disease also known as Periodontal Disease begins with bacterial growth in the mouth.
There are various surgical and nonsurgical ways to treat gum diseases and restore the gums to a healthy state and also prevent the further destruction of gums and supporting bone.
In Shri RAM Dental Care, Doctor will help you solve all your gum related problems.

TREATMENT OPTION OF GUM DISEASE:
The treatment option depends on the stage of Gum Disease. The treatment options range from non-surgical therapies to surgical treatments.
Professional Dental Cleaning:
This is done in the very initial stage, here Dentist will remove the plaque and tartar (plaque that builds up and hardens on the tooth surface and can only be removed with professional cleaning) from above and below the gum line of all teeth.
Scaling & Root Planning:
This is a deep-cleaning, nonsurgical procedure, done under a local anesthetic, whereby plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line are scraped away (scaling) and rough spots on the tooth root are made smooth (planing). Smoothing the rough spots removes bacteria and provides a clean surface for the gums to reattach to the teeth.
Surgical Treatment Includes:
During this procedure the gums are lifted back and the tartar is removed. In some cases, irregular surface of the bone is smoothened so that there are no areas for bacteria which cause this disease can hide. The gums are then placed so that the tissue fits snugly around the tooth. This method reduces the size of the space between the gum and tooth, thereby decreasing the areas where harmful bacteria can grow and decreasing the chance of serious health problems associated with periodontal disease.
This method is used to regenerate the bone. The dentist use fragments of synthetic bone donated bone or your own bone which is used to replace the bone destroyed due to gum disease
Soft Tissue Graft:
This procedure reinforces thin gums or fills in places where gums have receded. Grafted tissue, most often taken from the roof of the mouth, is stitched in place, adding tissue to the affected area.
Guided Tissue Regeneration:
Done along flap surgery when bone which supports your teeth are destroyed. Your dentist will insert a small piece of mesh-like fabric between your bone and gum tissue.
SYMPTOMS OF GUM DISEASES:
- Gums that bleed when you brush or floss your teeth
- Pulling of gums away from the teeth
- Loose teeth
- Change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite (malocclusion)
- pus between teeth and gums
- pain when chewing
